Dr. Shirley Hansen is widely recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in energy management and energy efficiency financing. From Washington, D.C. to Bangkok, she has been variously described as the mother, grandmother, and godmother of performance contracting.
Dr. Hansen has chaired the Board of Directors of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol, Inc. and the certification board for M&V professionals. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Association of Energy Engineers, the Advisory Board of Energy & Environmental Management magazine, and the International Working Group for the International Energy Efficiency Financing Protocol. She received her doctorate from Michigan State University. Among the many honors she has received, she is most proud of her distinguished alumni award from the university and her induction into the AEE Hall of Fame. She has authored and co-authored several books, including Performance Contracting: Expanding Horizons, Investment Grade Energy Auditing, and ESCOs Around the World: Lessons Learned in 49 Countries.
